Fenwick Colchester secured James Martin for a cookery demonstration in-store using his latest Wahl kitchenware range and a book signing with a hundred tickets available to the public.
The KAT team were tasked with selling the tickets to the event and generating press coverage in the lead up to the event, during and after the demo; as well as promotion of the Wahl product range available in the kitchenware department of the store. The team were also required to provide event management on the day to make sure all of the media had their scheduled time with James Martin and that the event went off without a hitch.
The KAT team immediately served up a comprehensive media plan for the event, including generating press coverage of the event focusing around the news of a celebrity chef coming to town and the hundred ticket availability. This led to tickets selling out within twelve hours and the opportunity to sell the same again ten times over. Once sales were in place, a media partnership to cover the event on the day was put in place with BBC Essex, Dream 100, local print media, trade press (Colchester Gazette, Essex Life and East Anglian Daily Times) and a range of local-centric foodie bloggers thorough outreach.
On the day, the KAT team made sure the event went smoothly from providing liaison and interviews with the broadcast and print media before arranging for bloggers to have a photoshoot with James Martin prior to the demo. The event created a wide range of press coverage before and after the event across broadcast and print media, led to Wahl product reviews in trade press and created a buzz within the foodie community in North Essex to showcase Fenwick as the place to go for homeware in Colchester.
