How to drive traffic to your website

We’d wager that you agonised over the look, feel and content on your website, are we right? That’s all well and good, but did you devote as much time to how you will drive traffic to it? Don’t panic if your answer is no. That’s where digital marketing rides to the rescue. Luckily, there’s a goldmine of digital avenues for you to go down in your pursuit of visitors and not all of them cost you thousands in expenses… just a little bit of that precious commodity called time.

Get social

Social media is a great way to jump right into your potential customer pool and engage with them on their preferred platform and when they want to talk. Be sure to post engaging and relevant content; and one simple rule is if you have nothing to say, then don’t say it. Provide useful content and people will talk to you, so be sure to talk back. Don’t forget to always link as much as you can back to your website, via your profiles and posts to make sure no opportunity is missed.

Optimise

Your on-page content may be vibrant, punchy, and perfectly pitched, but does it target what your clients are searching for? At KAT, we use industry-leading software to decipher what terms and phrases people are searching for. However, there are some sneaky – albeit longwinded – ways to work it out. Firstly, think about what you’d search for when looking for what you offer and type some options in a search engine and see what it suggests as relevant results. Secondly, take a look at what other key players’ websites are targeting and you’ll soon see a pattern emerge.

Once you have your keyword research done, then it’s time to get implementing it across your website to boost your organic ranking. Start with weaving the keywords into your main on-page content, H1 titles, title tags and meta descriptions, so you are promoting to Google what you do loud and clear. You can even look to target more longer tail phrases (lesser searched terms) to pick up easy wins where you can find them.

Create

Content is king, but not just any old content. Search engines want you to be drafting thought-leading content on key subjects to be as informative and useful as possible to its audience. This doesn’t just go for your blog and resources on your website, make sure your social is full of useful content as well in order to boost your following, engage your community and drive traffic back to your services. Consider what matters to your industry and your clients, then let that drive your content strategy across the board.

Advertise

Look away if you’re the one holding the purse-strings, here’s where the money comes in. There’s no drama though, as digital marketing offers the best ROI tracking of any marketing stream. It offers the ability to track your user’s full journey, from initial click through to purchase, so you know exactly which stream is working. Whether you are considering some retargeting through the Facebook Pixel or targeting engaged shoppers through pay-per-click, be sure to consider your budget, add a little extra, and then monitor your returns.
