Colchester’s got bags of talent

The KAT Marketing team loves nothing more than celebrating creativity and were delighted to be part of Colchester Has Talent. Despite the very autumnal weekend, the brilliance of Colchester’s young up-and-coming stars simply shone through, exuding warmth and hope.

Singers, dancers, guitarists and scooter boys were among the gifted youngsters who formed a constellation of talent which simply lit up Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Colchester.

The Vacay Bar courtyard in the shopping centre provided the stage for Colchester Has Talent. Our MD Katie Skingle was on the judging panel alongside Dr Cameron Abbott-Betts, director of Colchester Fringe, and head judge Segun Lawal… and they were not disappointed. Over two days, the trio of creatives enjoyed performances from talented youngsters aged between eight and 16, all vying for the chance to perform at Lion Walk’s Christmas Lights event later in the year.

The Scooter Boys won the judge’s golden buzzer and a guaranteed place in the festive spectacular with their dynamic display of daring which was packed with energy and in perfect synchronisation.

And melodic singer Ivy May won the judges’ hearts with her beautiful act. At just 12, she showed her extraordinary singer-song writing talents which far exceeded her years.

Katie said: “It was such a privilege to see so many talented youngsters. With so much going on in the world at the moment, it was like a ray of sunshine to see these fantastic performers.

“The talent has been outstanding and each and every performer should be so proud of what they have accomplished. Colchester is such a creative city and we are privileged to be part of this artistic community.”

Ivy and The Scooter Boys will be among the festive entertainers at Lion Walk Shopping Centre’s popular Christmas Lights event later this year.
