It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The countdown to Christmas is on and we here at KAT Marketing just love it – the glitter, the lights, the feel-good factor of the festive season just fills our hearts with joy.
But there is a serious side to Christmas which should not be forgotten… Christmas is a really important time for businesses and for some, it can be make or break.
Last Christmas was frugal. The cost of living crisis had taken a firm hold and the impact was felt hard at the tills with £13 billion less being spent by consumers in the UK compared to Christmas 2022.
But there are signs of hope – the new government is pushing hard for growth and inflation is now more stable at 2%. Businesses are looking to cash in this year and hope tills will be set ringing with extra purchases of food, drink, gifts and seasonal celebrations.
For many small businesses especially, Christmas is a key time to generate revenue. Data has shown 44% of small businesses expect to generate over a quarter of their annual revenue during Christmas. So it matters.
But competition has never been tougher. So when should you start marketing Christmas? And how?
That’s where we come in. To be honest, if you don’t market your services effectively, you might as well be shouting in an empty room but at KAT Marketing we will shouting about you from the rooftops.
This year, among our marketing initiatives is Colchester’s Lion Walk Shopping Centre Christmas Lights event which is sure to be a fantastic event to kickstart late night shopping.
We are also leading a number of combined social media campaigns for our valued clients with similar audiences, and we are offering an extra service over Christmas for businesses which might need to plug into an extra resource.
So, as we enter the festive period, we want to move away from ‘Christmas Past’ and look forward to ‘Christmas Yet to Come’.
We will also, of course, be supporting The Mercury Theatre’s Christmas panto (oh, yes we will). This year, the talented theatre troupe is performing its version of The New Adventures of Peter Pan. We know it will be fantastic while generating valuable revenue for this tremendous facility.
Using our skilled, inventive and eye-catching marketing campaigners, we will, as Peter Pan’s creator J M Barrie said, show dreams do come true if only we wish hard enough.
