Over the last decade, KAT Marketing has been integral in raising tens of thousands of pounds for the NSPCC and their fantastic work.

The Background

We are immensely proud of our ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable children in Colchester and the whole of Essex. For more than a decade, our team has been growing the Colchester NSPCC Business Group which KAT Marketing’s Director, Katie Skingle, established in 2007 to bring local companies together in aid of the NSPCC. Over the years, our blueprint has been used to establish business groups and held up as a shining light for similar projects arounds the UK.

Our Work

KAT Marketing makes sure that there is a variety of business resources available to Colchester NSPCC Business Group. Whether it is the expertise of the team from providing constant support across a variety of services from digital presence through to public relations and vital fundraising calls. The KAT Marketing team treats the Colchester NSPCC Business Group in the same way they would a client by devoting a percentage of their working time to the charity; commonly around 5% per week.

This includes members of the KAT team running the NSPCC’s social media channels to drive engagement, calling local business to secure sponsorship for events, constantly looking for opportunities to promote the NSPCC through regular press and communication material and acting as treasurer to the group.

In 2016, the Colchester NSPCC Business Group embarked on a Guinness World Record Attempt to break the largest game of musical statues ever held. Over 1,116 Colchester in the Park attendees took part in the attempt and raised £2,000 in aid of the NSPCC’s pioneering Speak out Stay safe programme, which empowers children, helping them understand abuse and giving them confidence to speak out and stay safe.

Another flagship annual event of the group is the Emerald Ball, which celebrated it's tenth year in 2017. The spectacular yearly spectacle brings the business community together for a magical evening of fundraising sponsored and supported by some of the region’s largest businesses. Over the last decade the Emerald Ball has raised over £70,000 for local NSPCC projects and raising awareness of the charity.

The Bear Diaries

‘Get teddy’ for a new and unique fundraising event, in association with Build-a-Bear, with all proceeds donated to The Colchester NSPCC Business Group.

All businesses involved will be tagged and promoted on our social media platforms – and the cub that has the most interesting fortnight will win £250-worth of vouchers for their company!
