Interim Marketing Support
Celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2022, The Mercury Theatre is an iconic Colchester landmark, named after the Roman messenger god of the same name. Based at Balkerne Gate in the centre of the town, the theatre is known as a welcoming and vibrant cultural centre for people in the East of England and beyond. Instilling one and all with a love of theatre and live performance – storytelling, musicality, innovation, showmanship – Mercury Theatre places connection and inclusivity at the heart of everything it does. www.mercurytheatre.co.uk
When KAT was called upon to join them in the spotlight, The Mercury Theatre already had a well-established and wide-ranging follower base, both online and offline. However, the team at The Mercury required interim marketing support, initially to span four months throughout a period of increased workload, staffing changes and handovers. With an existing brand, style and ‘tone of voice’ already in place, the KAT Pack needed to take their cue from the Mercury team, specific branding guidelines and existing, published content to seamlessly blend into the marketing cast – the show was to go on as usual.
The KAT team are well used to working as an ensemble and we know the importance of great communication with our clients, especially when working so closely with an existing cast of players. KAT were granted access to the Mercury team’s board on Monday.com, where work is allocated and briefed, and updates are naturally fast paced.
Daily social media posts were composed ahead of time for direct client approval, based on agreed topics and the promotion timeline of upcoming shows. Meanwhile, organic posts are scheduled into the Mercury’s social media accounts through Buffer, further promoting shows with boosted posts and ads created by the KAT team using Facebook Ads Manager, in accordance with the budget and information provided by the client through Monday.com.
KAT Marketing provided interim support for the Mercury theatre's marketing team during a period of change and transition at the end of 2021 and the start of 2022. The friendly KAT Marketing team helped us to keep the show on the road by providing a range of support including social media, design, proof reading, print and e-newsletters. Having the full range of KAT Marketing skills at our disposal was incredibly helpful and we found them to be responsive and creative partners, with an abundance of patience and good humour to boot.
